Job Title: Warehousing and Logistics Manager
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Reports To: General Manager
Starting Salary: 35,000 Ksh

The Warehousing and Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of the warehouse, coordinating logistics and transportation, and managing the company’s delivery vehicles. This role involves organizing warehouse layout, ensuring accurate inventory management, developing distribution schedules, and maintaining vehicle safety and performance. The manager will lead a team of drivers, ensuring high standards of safety, efficiency, and compliance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Warehouse Management:
    • Oversee day-to-day operations of the warehouse, including receiving, storage, inventory management, and dispatch of goods.
    • Implement and maintain an optimized storage system, ensuring that products are stored according to category, turnover rate, or any other relevant criteria.
    • Develop and enforce warehouse policies for material handling, safety, and cleanliness to maintain a well-organized and safe working environment
    • Ensure accurate inventory control systems are in place.
    • Implement and monitor stock management processes to minimize discrepancies.
    • Coordinate periodic stock counts and audits.
  • Logistics Coordination:
    • Plan and oversee the distribution and transportation of goods, ensuring timely deliveries to customers and other branches.
    • Develop and maintain delivery schedules to maximize fleet productivity.
    • Ensure proper packaging, loading, and securing of goods in vehicles to minimize damage and ensure safe transit.
    • Monitor and resolve any logistical issues such as delayed shipments or vehicle breakdowns.
    • Work closely with drivers to ensure all vehicle routes are optimized for traffic, distance, and fuel efficiency.
    • Monitor vehicle usage, driver performance, and adherence to delivery schedules to ensure operational efficiency.
    • Ensure the safety and condition of delivery vehicles, coordinating regular inspections, maintenance, servicing, to meet regulatory standards, including insurance, registration etc.
  • Team Management:
    • Supervise staff and logistics personnel, ensuring that team objectives are met.
    • Promote safety practices within the warehouse and during logistics operations.
    • Ensure staff adhere to company policies, including punctuality, attendance, and workplace conduct.
    • Address and resolve any operational issues or staff concerns that arise within the team, ensuring that challenges are met promptly.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure the warehouse is compliant with all safety regulations and standards.
    • Implement and enforce health and safety guidelines in warehousing and logistics operations.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum C+ grade in KCSE
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in supervisory or managerial role preferably in a retail or e-commerce environment.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve logistical challenges, optimize inventory processes, and improve fleet efficiency.
  • Leadership Abilities: Strong team leadership skills with experience managing other staff.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to a fast-paced environment and handle high-pressure situations effectively.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent time management and organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Compliance & Safety: A strong understanding of safety regulations, vehicle maintenance requirements, and compliance standards in warehousing and logistics.
